Rules
General Rules:
- No glass
bottles.
- No alcoholic
beverages.
- Pit area speed
limit is 10 MPH.
- Speed limit on
dragstrip/airport grounds is 10 MPH.
- No
participants will be allowed in the pit area until he or she has secured a
competitor or pit permit and signed the waiver and release sheet for that
particular event.
- New London
Dragstrip assumes no responsibility for damage to or loss of your equipment,
vehicle or any parts by any means whatsoever.
- We expect
courteous conduct from all participants at all times. We will not tolerate
profanity in front of race fans, officials, or management.
- There will be
no refunds given for spectator or racer entry fees. Rain checks will be
issued as necessary.
- If your car
breaks before elimination runs are started, you will receive a "break
pass". The "break pass" is good for entry fee to an upcoming
race in the season minus the day's spectator fee.
- Competitor or
pit permits are not transferable and are not to be used by anyone except
the person to whom it is issued.
- Any
complaints, disputes, questions, or problems must be immediately directed to a track
official in a calm and courteous manner.
- At any time,
the threat of bodily harm will result in permanent suspension for the driver
and the entire racing crew and will result in arrest of all parties
involved.
- Any reckless
behavior or driving in the pit area may subject the offender to suspension
depending on the seriousness of the incident and the decision of management.
Any continued problems from the same individual may result in permanent
suspension.
- The dragstrip
management and officials will establish the length, frequency, and
administration of all events and when their decision is rendered, the
decision is final and binding.
- All purses
must be collected on the day of the race.
- There will be
no tolerance for misuse of golf carts, scooters, etc on the premises. You
will be asked to leave immediately if you are operating the vehicle in an
unsafe manner.
- No ATV's or dirtbikes
allowed for use as pit transportation. *ATV's may only be used as a tow
vehicle.*
- Speed limit at
all times for pit transportation (golf cart, scooter) is 10 MPH - If operated in
an unsafe manner, the vehicle in competition that you are with will be
disqualified.
- You must be at
least 16 years of age and have a valid drivers license in your possession to
operate any style pit transportation.
- Anyone
wishing to use any type of pit transportation must acquire a pit
transportation permit from the management. If we see a vehicle without a
permit, we will ask the rider to put it on the trailer immediately.
- Buy-backs are
available each race. Buy-backs are eligible for bye-runs once back in
eliminations. Drivers who buy-back will receive 10 points per round won
after they buy-back. Buy-Back drivers are eligible for round money.
- Junior
Dragsters must be towed or pushed to the staging lanes. Junior dragsters
must be picked up by a tow vehicle at the end of the run and towed back to
the pits.
- Anytime a
Junior Dragster is started, a qualified driver must be seated in the
vehicle.
- No assistance
by the crew members will be allowed after the Junior Dragsters have entered
the pre-stage beam.
- Every car that
is issued a number will receive SBRA points. Drivers will receive 10 points
for each race entered, and 10 round points for each round of competition
won. No transferring points from one class to another.
On-Track Rules:
- Only one crew
member is allowed in the burnout area and at start line with their car. No
one under the age of 18 is allowed in this area.
- All
drivers must be at least 16 years of age and have a valid drivers
license to participate in any event at New London.
- Warm-ups may
be done only in the designated area of the main strip beyond the finish line
prior to to start of time trials. The return roads and taxi-way will
be subject to the same 10mph speed limit that covers the rest of the
grounds.
- Warm-ups may be done in your pit area
on jack stands, but you must be sitting in the car while warming-up.
- No two drivers
may enter the same car in the same class.
- A
points number stays with the driver, it may be transferred to another car as
long as the driver remains.
- No
additional drivers may be added to your points team after the original
entry.
- If you miss a
round of time runs, you will not be allowed to make up the missed run.
- No shake down
or time runs after the race starts.
- Any driver
caught using an illegal electronic device will be disqualified from the
event and will lose all points from that race.
- Dial-ins may
be changed after any rain delay.
- Once you cross
the line at the entrance to the staging lanes, do not change lanes or leave
the lanes. Cars are not paired until staging official appoints them.
- While in the
staging lanes, you must be ready to race.
- Staging lanes
will be run at the staging officials discretion, and will be kept moving as
efficiently as possible.
- Round robin
may be used at any time.
- If your class
is called to the staging lanes and you miss the entire round, you will not
be reinstated.
- Burnouts are
allowed in the water box only.
- Treaded-tire
cars will not be allowed in the waterbox.
- No burnouts
across the starting line, unless previously cleared by a track official.
- Windows
must be rolled up completely as soon as a car enters the burnout area and
must remain up until you reach the return road.
- All vehicles
must have at least one working taillight.
- All
motorcycles must have a working taillight mounted behind the seat or on the
wheelie bars.
- All
motorcycles must have protective clothing according to their E. T.
- If
your car crosses the center line, you will be disqualified.
- If any loose
part of a vehicle crosses the center line and the outcome of the race is
affected, this could result in disqualification.
- Excessive
braking could result in disqualification.
- Courtesy
staging is recommended, do not final stage your car until your opponent has
pre-staged.
- Once
you have staged your car, you have committed to the race. You may not
un-stage unless directed to do so by the start line official.
- Your dial in
must be clear and legible on the front windshield, driver's window, and the
rear window.
- The dial in must be on your car prior to crossing the line at
the exit of the staging lanes.
- If your car
breaks in the staging lanes, you have either 60 seconds or until the end of
the round to fix the problem, whichever is longer. This courtesy may only be
used once per race in order to keep the staging lanes moving efficiently.
- The line at
the front of the staging lanes is the commitment line to race. If you break
after you cross the line, you then have twenty seconds to make the start
before the other driver is told to stage.
- Long pants,
shirt, and shoes are required in all classes, unless a fire suit is
required.
- Snell 95
helmets are recommended in all classes and required for all cars going 8.99 or
quicker and all Jr. Dragsters.
- No automatic
launch control electronics will be allowed in the Footbrake, Trophy Street,
or Jr. Dragster categories. Delay boxes must be out of the car. No working
transbrakes will be allowed.
- Only DOT
approved tires will be permitted and electronics will be prohibited in the
Trophy Street class.
- The car that
drew the bye card gets lane choice if no bye run is available that round.
- Bye
runs are up to the driver's discretion.
- All batteries
must be mounted in a safe fashion
- Carbureted
engines must run a hood, air filter, or flash shield over the
carburetor inlet.
- Track
officials may disqualify any car that is deemed to be unsafe at any
time.
Jr.
Dragster Rules

AGE
8-9
1.
ET restricted to 12.90 seconds or slower based on an ET dial-your-own.
2.
Any racer running quicker than 12.70 ET at any time during an event will
receive one warning. If the
same racer runs quicker than 12.70 ET again at the same event, he/she will
be disqualified for the remainder of the event.
Any racer running quicker than 12.50 ET at any time during an event
will be immediately disqualified from the remainder of the event.
NO SECOND CHANCES.
AGE
10-12
1.
ET restricted to 8.90 seconds or slower based on an ET dial-your-own.
2.
Any racer running quicker than 8.90 ET at any time during an event will
receive one warning. If the
same racer runs quicker than 8.70 ET again at the same event, he/she will
be disqualified for the remainder of the event.
Any racer running quicker than 8.50 ET at any time during an event
will be immediately disqualified from the remainder of the even.
NO SECOND CHANCES.
AGE
13-18
1.
ET restricted to 7.90 seconds or slower based on an ET dial-your-own,
break out rules
apply.
2.
Any racer running quicker than 7.90 ET at any time during an event will
receive one warning. If the
same racer runs quicker than 7.70 ET again at the same event, he/she will
be disqualified for the remainder of the event.
Any racer running quicker than 7.50 ET at any time during an event
will be immediately disqualified from the remainder of the even.
NO SECOND CHANCES.
ALL
JR. DRAGSTERS
1.
All participants must have Minor Insurance Waiver signed by both parents
on file at the Dragstrip, waiver must be signed before participating in
their first race. Once signed it is good for entire 2008 season.
2.
All Jr Dragsters must be towed back to the pits.
3.
At all times when a Jr. Dragster vehicle is being towed, the driver must
be seated in the cockpit. No
passengers allowed.
4.
Tow strap may not be attached to any portion of the roll cage.
5.
No recreational or fun riding will be allowed.
NO ONE UNDER THE AGE OF 16 YEARS OF AGE PERMITTED TO OPERATE A
MOTORIZED VEHICLE WITHIN THE RACING FACILITY.
6.
Any time a Jr Dragster is running, there must be a driver in the vehicle
7.
Engines must be of Briggs and Stratton 5HP design. No overhead valve
motors allowed.
8.
No electric brake controls including “line locks” or stutter boxes
allowed.
9.
Car must have chain guard covering the complete top half of the chain.
10.
Clutch guards are recommended.
11.
Car must have a deflector panel located between the driving compartment
and the engine compartment
12.
Power adders are prohibited (nitrous-oxide, turbo, blowers, or fuel
additives)
13.
If a Jr Dragster becomes inoperable on the track, driver must remain
inside the vehicle with all safety equipment in place until track
officials reach the vehicle.
Safety

Staging

Jr.
Dragsters must be staged under the drivers control and must be in a
forward motion.

If
a Jr deep stages, the driver must be prepared to accept the tree.

After
proper pre-staging by both cars re-staging is prohibited.

Once
the Jr has lighted the pre-stage bulb, no
one will be allowed to touch the vehicle, or it will be disqualified
and not allowed to make the run.

If
a Jr. Dragster’s engine looses fire after
pre-staging, the motor may not be restarted, driver will loose that
run.
Lane

Footbrake only.
You
must leave the starting line on a footbrake. If your leg doesn't move or there
is any question, to be fair, you will be disqualified. If there is any doubt, you
will be disqualified. Any driver caught with electronics will forfeit all points
and be suspended for 20 races. Delay box can not be in car. Left side drive
street style roadsters with fenders allowed. 5 second footbrake cars permitted.
If quicker than 7.49 e.t. refer to S/Pro safety rules.
